Hey all,

It’s time to test this whole blog thing out! I’m not 100% sure what I want this to be yet, so I think I’ll just enter my general feeling and vibe and see where that takes us.

I am feeling a little bit frazzled at the moment, I think I’m having a bit of an ADHD meltdown where my brain can’t pick a single project to work on. So at the moment I am attempting to work through this new world of social media, booktok, bookstagram, booktube, yada yada, but I’m also feeling inspired creatively with my writing, which is something I haven’t been able to say in quite some time.

I have just finished a new ARC Book “Less Than Perfect: A Memoir” and while I found some parts of it difficult to get through, I think it was a fantastically written and very relatable story about parenthood and raising children. I’m continuing working through Royal Assassin by Robin Hobb, I know I’m taking my sweet time with it, but that is actually turning out to be a good thing. I get to spend longer in this world and with these characters that I am falling in love with. This is rapidly becoming one of my favourite series of all time and I am so glad that I finally picked up Hobb’s work. As it stands I am just over the half way mark and I am nowhere near ready for this to end. Not to put to fine of a point on it, but if I could marry Hobb’s prose I might well have to talk my wife into a throuple…

I have also picked up “Beach Read” by Emily Henry as something a bit lighter and easier to read. It is following the tropes beat for beat so far (only about 10% of the way in) and I am 100% here for that. I’ll let you know how it goes.

On a more personal creative note I have had a sudden rush of inspiration on an idea for a teen novel series. It would kind of centre around both the Zodiac and Birthstones as the centre of the magic system (yes, I know it’s been done, but I’m having fun…) and would take inspirations from all of my favourite childhood TV Shows, Books, Manga etc. (Think Power Rangers, Captain Planet, Digimon, Pokemon, Disney Movies and so on and so forth). Rather than avoiding the tropes and the expectations, I am going to lean right into them. I dunno, it might turn into nothing, but I have a good feeling about this one! I think I think I have my NaNoWriMo concept for this year?

That’ll about do me for now, I’ve been battling a nasty case of Tonsillitis which is about as much fun as an enema (no… I’d rather the enema…) but I’m looking forward to adding more to this as I figure out exactly what I want this Blog to be.
